Too Big to Prosecute: Big Pharma Executives Are Apparently “Above the Law”
By now you’ve probably heard that the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline has been slapped with a $3 billion dollar fine, the largest healthcare fraud settlement in US history. The list of wrongdoings they have committed is quite simply shocking. In fact, in a previous article, I explained why these companies are simply evil – after all, some of their violations include drugging children and robbing poor people.
I’m glad the government levied such a large fine on GlaxoSmithKline, though when compared to their annual profits, this is more like a speed bump that slows them down temporarily rather than something so painful that it will likely change their corporate culture.
What the government doesn’t get is that money doesn’t solve everything. Surely GlaxoSmithKline will “change their ways” over the next several years – enough to satisfy the government regulators who will be watching over them as part of the settlement. But I can guarantee you, as sure as the sun rises, GlaxoSmithKline will be back to their evil ways sooner rather than later.
In the past, I’ve likened the fines Big Pharma pays to the government to bribes, simply because they get to keep doing business as usual and no individual ever gets punished.
What will really change the ways of the terrible actions taken by these awful companies? I think jail time for the executives is a good start. There’s just nothing quite like moving somebody from a mansion to a prison – it’s a shocker and sends a warning shot across the desks of Big Pharma executive everywhere. After all, these executives are making millions at the helm of companies that are committing crimes against humanity, all in the name of “health care.”
Outraged? The best thing you can do is to take as few pharmaceutical drugs as possible, and convince your friends and love ones to do the same!
If your elected representatives are seemingly supporting Big Pharma, let them know with a simple email, letter or phone call that this is costing them a vote.
Finally, be aware that your doctor might be in bed with Big Pharma too. You can find out how much money your doctor has received from drug companies using a new database. If your doctor comes up on the list, let them know that you will be taking your business elsewhere.
My friend Mike Adams over at NaturalNews.com wrote a great article earlier this week, which details many of the horrific wrongdoings by the major pharmaceutical companies. Here’s a highlight:
One of the most astonishing realizations in all this is that given all the criminal fraud, bribery, misrepresentation, lying to the FDA, price fixing and other crimes that are going on in the pharmaceutical industry, you’d think somebody somewhere might be arrested and charged with a crime, right?
To date, not a single pharmaceutical CEO, marketing employee or drug rep has been charged with anything related to all this fraud. In America, drug company employees are “above the law” just like top mafia bosses of a bygone era.
How insane is this, exactly? Consider this:
Imagine if YOU, an individual, went around town bribing doctors, falsifying data, selling a fraudulent product to the government, lying to regulators, engaging in anti-trade price-fixing and threatening your employees into silence. What would happen to you?
You’d probably wind up rotting in prison, the subject of an FBI investigation and a DoJ prosecution.
So why is it okay for a multi-billion-dollar corporation to carry out these same crimes and get away with it? Why are the CEOs of top drug companies given a free pass to commit felony crimes and endless fraud?
I’ll tell you why, and you’re not gonna like the answer: Because America has become a nation run by crooks for the benefit of crooks. It’s one big country club, and as comedian George Carlin used to say, “YOU ain’t in it!”
