The Best Weight Control Strategy for You

If you’re in a constant battle to overcome a weight problem, I’m sure you’ve heard the “cavemen story” so prevalent in various articles and discussions concerning . It goes like this — food was so scarce in those primitive days that one of the body’s chief aims for survival was to store energy from foods in the form of body fat. Thus, when the food supply of the primitive man diminished for whatever reason, he could avoid starvation by using that stored fat for energy. As the story continues, this early physiological tendency, which was helpful for survival then, works against the modern individual. The fat efficiency of fat storage coupled with the excess supply of food (and calories) common in today’s world make it easy to get fat and to stay that way.

The controlling factors that the caveman found so beneficial include appetite, calorie burning and various hormonal shifts. Unlike the beneficial effects to the caveman, we derive little benefit from the fact that appetite is not suppressed adequately in the presence of calorie dense food, that metabolism decreases when we eat less (as the body assumes we are starving, not dieting) and that hormonal balance favors fat accumulation as we age. Might have been great for primitive humans, but we find it totally frustrating.

You don’t need to be a scientist to realize that weight problems should be attacked via multiple means — controlling appetite, burning more calories and having a favorable hormonal balance.

In my book, The Natural Fat-Loss Pharmacy, I describe a number of natural supplements for weight loss used as aids to overcome excess fat accumulation by different mechanisms — appetite suppression, increased calorie burning and affecting a better hormonal balance mainly through a normal insulin response. Many people have overlooked a major point of the book — that rather than picking out one supplement and hoping it will do the trick, my purpose was to give them the knowledge  to develop his or her own effective multi-ingredient program, used along with diet and exercise, to decrease fat mass and maintain muscle.

In very much the same way people often approach , I think most readers select a chapter and try a single ingredient to achieve success. If it doesn’t happen, they give up on that one and try another. It’s all right to start with a single ingredient for , but after a finite period, depending on success, another ingredient with different actions, should be added in many cases. Often, a synergistic combination of ingredients is neccessary for efficient and lasting weight loss results.

The Anti-Aging Bottom Line: In the end, a combination of ingredients with different mechanisms of action, such as decreasing appetite, enhancing calorie burning and favorably regulating hormonal balance are more likely to be effective than the use of a single ingredient.
