Recipes for Longevity What’s the best diet for sustained health, beauty, energy and longevity? We’ll be the first to admit that we don’t know the answer. That’s why we want you to send us your recipes for longevity!

We know that there are many different viewpoints on the matter of healthy eating, and entire dietary philosophies have been built around these viewpoints. Strict vegetarians, raw foodists, Paleo eaters and practitioners of macrobiotics and caloric restriction are among the more “extreme” types of healthy eaters, and each of their unique dietary theories have both strong points and potential drawbacks. And of course, there are also those who seem to just eat “whatever they want” and yet somehow still manage to maintain a glow of radiant health.

A few weeks ago, as part of the Great Health Debate, some of the world’s premier experts on healthy eating hashed out the finer points of their dietary philosophies. Though they disagreed about some things, there were also a few things they agreed that all health and longevity minded eaters should do:

1. Emphasize fresh plant foods.

2. Minimize or eliminate processed foods.

3. Know where your food comes from.

Another point that most of these experts agreed upon was that it’s also important to keep things in perspective. Nutrition is important, but it’s just one factor in a healthy lifestyle. Healthy relationships, spirituality, exercise, sleep and sunlight are all examples of the other factors that come in to play in creating health and longevity.

It’s also important to remember, in all your fervor to achieve health and longevity though food, to listen to your body and to be flexible.

So, without digressing too much, here are the details on how the recipe contest will work and what you can win! We have a great collection of healthy recipes on our site, but lately we’ve been feeling like it’s time to update our collection with some fresh new ideas.

That’s why we want you to send us your favorite “recipe for longevity.” Tell why you love it and what makes it healthy. (Bonus points for including a photo.)

How to Enter

Send the following to recipes@stopagingnow.com by April 1, 2011:

1. Your “recipe for longevity” (your favorite healthy recipe)

2. A description of why you love the recipe and what makes it healthy

3. Your name and contact information

4. A photo (optional, but will greatly increase your chances of winning!)

The Fine Print

–  Deadline: All entries are due by Friday, April 1st at 11:59pm EST

– Winners will be notified by email the following week and winning entries will be published on Live in the Now.

– You may enter more than one recipe.

–  The recipe must be either completely original, or adapted in your own words from an acknowledged source.

–  Be specific with measurements, directions and the size of cans, packages and pans so others can successfully make your recipe.
