New Study Shows CoQ10 Fights Wrinkles
Supplementing with a combination of CoQ10 and other antioxidant nutrients could improve the appearance of wrinkles by nearly 20%, according to a recent study.
In the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, researchers outlined how they randomly assigned 60 women to either take CoQ10 with antioxidants like beta-carotene, grape seed, green tea, vitamin E and selenium, or a placebo. After 12 weeks, those taking the supplement experienced a significant improvement in skin roughness and fine wrinkles compared to their placebo-taking counterparts — a reduction of 21.22% compared to 1.7%.
Why such a difference? Researchers hypothesized that the CoQ10 fights oxidative damage and prevents DNA degradation, both of which diminish damage to collagen fibers — the stuff that gives skin its elasticity and fullness. Vitamin E does the same thing.
The Anti-Aging Bottom Line: CoQ10 has a proven track record as a heart-protecting antioxidant, brain energizer and all-around cellular revitalizer. This new research shows that taking CoQ10 can keep your body young from the inside out.
