Just 15 Minutes a Day Can Add 3 Years to Your Life

evening exercise Despite knowing that exercise can improve health and quality of life, many people find the suggested 30 minutes of physical activity daily to be a little daunting. But those people can now breath a sigh of relief to learn that researchers at National Health Research Institutes in Taiwan have found that even just 15 minutes of physical activity a day can extend one’s life by up to 3 years.

Unlike most research studies, this tidbit of advice applies to all nationalities, genders, lifestyles and levels of current health. Since the researcher’s objective was to find the minimum amount of activity needed for long-term benefit, they were sure to include 416,000 randomized individuals to take part in their 13 year observations.

In a phone interview with Reuters, lead researcher Chi Pang Wen said, “We hope this will make it more attractive for inactive people, that they can allocate 15 minutes a day, rather than 30, which is more difficult.”
