Aches and Pains? How Curcumin Can Help

by

article2928 If you suffer from any kind of joint pain, you’re probably well acquainted with how severely it can limit your mobility. The fact is, ongoing joint discomfort affects roughly 1 in 5 adults and is the leading cause of disability in the U.S.[1]

So if pain in your knees, hips, back, shoulders, elbows or hands makes simple daily activities like going up stairs or opening jars difficult for you, please keep reading.

Today, I have interesting news to share about a scientific breakthrough that can ease your discomfort and increase your mobility by addressing the root cause of joint pain.

I understand how you feel. You see, I suffered from ongoing joint pain for years. And if it weren’t for doing my own extensive research, I would probably still be in pain. But thankfully that’s all past me now!

Curcumin: An Ancient Solution for Modern-Day Joint Problems

You may have heard about curcumin — the antioxidant pigment that gives the curry spice turmeric its yellow-orange color. While turmeric has been used for its healing properties throughout Asia for thousands of years, curcumin specifically has garnered a lot of interest recently, with some experts hailing it as the “supplement of the decade.”

Most notably, curcumin is proving to be the most powerful nutrient for addressing the primary underlying cause of joint discomfort: inflammation. And unlike the over-the-counter painkillers so many joint pain sufferers rely on daily for temporary relief, curcumin has no side effects or long-term adverse consequences.[2,3]

Studies have shown that the way curcumin works its magic is by effectively “switching off” the body’s most powerful inflammatory chemical, Nf-kappa beta, along with specific enzymes that have been implicated in inflammation.[4,5]

In a recent study of joint pain patients, those who added curcumin to their daily treatment plan reported reduced pain and increased mobility, whereas the group that received no curcumin had no significant improvements.[6] Another key study also found that curcumin blocked inflammatory pathways, effectively preventing the launch of a protein that triggers swelling and pain.[7]

In addition, curcumin is known to influence more than 700 genes, with studies showing some truly amazing protective benefits for your heart, brain, liver, immune system and more.[8,9,10,11,12]

The Incredible Health Benefits of Curcumin

Most Doctors Don’t Know Anything About Curcumin

Despite curcumin’s growing popularity as an inflammation fighter, the mainstream medical establishment barely acknowledges its potential as a joint pain solution.

If you ask for help, your doctor will probably assure you that cumbersome aches and pains are a “normal” part of aging. He or she may offer you pills to help “manage” your pain, suggest potentially risky surgery or simply tell you to take it easy. But if you consider being active vital to your physical and mental health, slowing down may not be a viable option. And the truth is, pain and loss of mobility are not an inevitable part of aging. Mainstream medicine just doesn’t have any good, long-term solutions for joint pain.

The Shocking Truth About Curcumin Supplements

That’s why I made it my mission to seek out the truth about curcumin’s ability to ease ongoing joint discomfort. I read volumes of research on natural pain management, and I uncovered something surprising. I had been taking curcumin for years as part of my supplement regimen for its inflammation-fighting benefits. However, I was shocked to learn that I was actually missing out on most of its benefits — and wasting money.

It turns out that curcumin is very difficult for your body to absorb. In fact, with most curcumin supplements you end up only getting about 5 percent into your body, which leaves you with a dose far below therapeutic levels. To work its magic, curcumin needs to be combined with another nutrient in order to “unlock” its full potential – and very few supplements contain this critical ingredient.

How to Get the Most Out of Curcumin

As I mentioned, the problem with taking curcumin is that it’s not easily absorbed. In many studies, even very large oral doses have failed to yield significant increases in circulating blood levels.

But in an under-the-radar 1998 study, researchers discovered that an extract of black pepper called piperine significantly enhances absorption of curcumin by preventing its breakdown in the small intestine and liver. In fact, the research shows that the addition of a piperine extract increases the bioavailablity of curcumin by an astonishing 2,000 percent![13]

Yet for some reason, most supplement makers have turned a blind eye to these studies — cutting corners to save money or maybe simply not doing their research. Regardless of the reason, you’re the one missing out on the benefits you deserve.

How to Find the Right Curcumin Supplement

Now that you know how effectively the black pepper extract piperine boosts curcumin’s absorption, why would you take any curcumin supplement that doesn’t contain piperine?

Here’s another important tip: You also want to be sure that the curcumin supplement you’re taking has been standardized to contain at least 75 percent curcuminoids. Otherwise, what you’re getting could be little more than a pill filled with powdered turmeric root. (Standardization is the process by which the active ingredients in a plant are concentrated and brought to a consistent level.)

Can you get the benefits of curcumin by adding turmeric to food? Although it’s great to include turmeric in your diet as a spice, it’s almost impossible to get therapeutic amounts of curcumin on a daily basis by consuming turmeric. So, to put it simply, a high-quality curcumin supplement is your best bet!

My Curcumin Success Story josh

I know from personal experience how debilitating joint pain can be. Years ago, I began to experience persistent pain in my knees, which made participating in many of the activities I love extremely difficult and uncomfortable.

But since discovering the powerhouse combination of curcumin and piperine, I’ve run a marathon, cycled across the state of Maryland and even hiked up the 14,000 foot Mount of the Holy Cross peak in Colorado. (See the peak behind me in the picture at right. And believe me, the view is even more spectacular in person than any photo can capture.)

The Curcumin Supplement I Personally Recommend

I consider curcumin a “must take” supplement for healthy joints, and for many other clinically researched health benefits. However, as I was looking at the different options out there, I was shocked by the poor quality of the supplements on the market. And the few I found that had “all the right stuff,” including the black pepper extract piperine, which increases absorption by up to 2,000 percent, were absurdly expensive.

That’s why I took it upon myself to develop an effective AND affordable curcumin supplement called Curcumin2K®. I developed Curcumin2K working with the Scientific Advisory Board at my nutritional supplement company Stop Aging Now, which has been making premium grade dietary supplements for over 20 years.

For a limited time, Live in the Now readers can get Curcumin2K for as low as $19.95 a bottle — with free shipping. I encourage you to take advantage of this great deal. Click here to take advantage of this special offer.

I invite you to do your own research to make sure I’m not just shamelessly promoting my own product, but I think you’ll find no other curcumin product like Curcumin2K.

Here’s what makes Curcumin2K superior:

  • Curcumin2K is made with a clinical dose of 1,330 mg of turmeric extract (roughly the equivalent of 13 heaping tablespoons of turmeric powder) standardized to contain a minimum of 95 percent curcuminoids, which is the highest level achievable.
  • Curcumin2K is enhanced with 20 mg of BioPerine® black pepper extract standardized to contain 95 percent piperine. This is the same brand and the same amount used in the research that has shown piperine increases curcumin’s absorption by up to 2,000 percent!
  • Curcumin2K provides fast-acting, long-lasting whole-body benefits in just 2 small veggie capsules per day. It also contains no unnecessary fillers or artificial ingredients.
  • Curcumin2K ships to you for free and comes with an amazing 365-day “any reason” guarantee. This way you risk nothing!

  6. Ed Arnold says:

It seems that Stop Aging Now has at least TWO joint supplements: Curcumin2K, and Osteo Gold. The descriptions on the SAN website don’t say if/when one is better than the other. How about some clarification?

    • Carolyn Banach, MS, RD says:

      Ed,
      Thank you for your comment.
Both the Curcumin2K and the Super Osteo Gold are excellent supplements for joint health. However, these are going to offer different benefits. Curcumin2K is great if your joint problems are specifically related to inflammation. However, if you need something that supports joint lubrication and healthy cartilage then the Super Osteo Gold would be a better choice. Of course we have customers that take both in order to obtain the full benefits from both supplements.

Hi I have to agree with you. For 2 1/2 years , I’ve been going through worse times in my life . severe sacroiliac joint pain and osteoarthritis in both hip joint , 13 steroid injection on my back and many more treatments such as acupuncture, herbal, hospital medication , chiropractor, physio , many admission. I practically couldn’t walk and sit . later I got to know about this miracle curcumin through a friend and let me tell you that I only took it for 3 days 4 tablets each day and the pain just disappeared, Since then I’m recommending this to every friend. I have not taken the above said brand but I took a brand called Livewell . I am not sure for others but it work great for me. Curcumin is a wonderful and a miracle supplement in my case.

Best to make your own turmeric from the raw root – skin them, crush with blender. Simmer at low heat at least an hour in purest clean water you can get, adding a teaspooful of black pepper.Cool, filter and bottle it ans store in fridge.

    • Dee says:

Could you give me the amounts to drink each day. How much turmeric and how much water. Thank you

      • Segen Tekle says:

        Hi Dee,
There are many different opinions on how much water we should be drinking every day. It’s generally suggested that you drink eight 8-oz glasses each day, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. In regards to turmeric, about 2,000mg is the maximum amount of standardized turmeric curcumin you should take per day.
        Hope this helps!

    RE: Joshua Corn,
I sent you an Email a couple of times in the last couple of weeks & I haven’t heard anything from you as of yet. This past Email was about “All the values of Green Tea”; what it is good for. Could you PLEASE get back to me as soon as you get a chance????
Thanks a Lot for everything you send me.
    Sincerely Yours, John R Stockhausen

  11. Lupe Macias says:

A few weeks ago, I went through a total knee replacement and that wasn’t fun. I was considerating getting your Curcumin2K but I’m not sure now. Negative comments have led me to think that perhaps I should just stick to my Tumeric Tea, which seems to help somewhat with my joint pain. I don’t want to invest on something that costs quite a bit (unless I buy 6 bottles) and find out it doesn’t work. Is this one supplement that may work for some and not everyone?
Thanks in advance for your response.

    • Segen Tekle says:

      Lupe,
We do offer a very generous return policy which stays in effect for a full year. You have 365 days to decide whether or not you would like to return your order. For best results, I would suggest you take the Curcumin2k for at least three months. Purchasing a six month supply will allow you to get the best rate per bottle.
      Hopefully this helps!
