Eating flaxseeds may reduce your risk of breast cancer, according to a new Canadian study in Cancer Causes and Control. This is one of several benefits of incorporating this healthful food into your diet.
Researchers compared the flax consumption of 2,999 women diagnosed with breast cancer with that of 3,370 healthy women. They found that eating flaxseeds or flaxseed bread was linked to an 18 or 23 percent reduction in the risk of this disease.
In the U.S., 300,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 37,000 will die from it every year. However, some experts say this malignancy is often preventable.
