8 Ways to Make Taking Vitamins Easier
I’m not the world’s best pill-taker, even when it comes to supplements. So I’ve been experimenting with ways to improve my habits and make taking vitamins easier. Here are some things that are helping me to take my vitamins consistently:
- I keep my bottles on the kitchen counter, where I can see them. It reminds me to take them.
- I take the same pills at the same time every day. It helps me keep straight what I’ve taken that day.
- I take my time getting them down. I admire people who can toss down a handful, but I’m not one of them.
- I divide up the dosages as recommended on the bottle. Doing that, I end up taking pills four times a day, at breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime. I know that taking the pills in divided doses increases absorption and keeps blood levels of nutrients more stable.
- I always eat something before I take any pills. It seems to prevent stomach upset.
- If I am traveling, I fill a pill pack with my supplements for each day.
- I auto-order my supplements so I don’t run out. Plus, I save money!
- I remind myself every once in a while what I’m taking them for: more energy, better brain power and a longer, healthier life!
The Anti-Aging Bottom Line: The only way to get optimal dosages of nutrients — the dosages proven in studies to provide benefits — is to take them consistently, as directed on the bottle. Taking less may not confer the same health benefits.
