Black, green and oolong tea all come from the same plant: Camellia sinensis. While all three types have many properties in common, oolong may be particularly helpful for weight loss. Early research suggests it also shares other health benefits of black and green tea.

How Does Oolong Differ from Green and Black Tea?

The difference lies in the fermentation. Black tea is fully fermented, green tea is unfermented and oolong tea is partially fermented. As the fermentation process alters the chemical makeup, the benefits linked to each of the three teas may vary somewhat. Oolong is the most difficult to manufacture, but the processing causes unique compounds to emerge that have potential to enhance wellness. Regardless of what color tea you drink, it is considered by many to be the world’s healthiest beverage.

1.Oolong Tea Promotes Weight Loss

Studies indicate oolong tea fosters weight loss by several actions. It may boost metabolism, increase fat burning and reduce the absorption of fat from the diet. In a Chinese study, 680 postmenopausal women who drank oolong tea daily had 4.5 to 4.9 percent higher bone densities than women who didn’t drink tea. Doctors commonly link greater bone mineral density to a reduced risk of fractures.

7. Oolong Tea Can Reduce Stress

Tea relieves stress despite the fact that it contains the stimulant caffeine.
